Winter Driving Tips to Improve your Safety

As you drive in the winter, you will want to make sure that the vehicle is in the best condition possible. Make sure to bring the vehicle in so we can inspect the parts and components of it so they are working at top performance levels. If there is an issue with a part, we can advise you on the options you have so it is repaired. It is always recommended to have the issue fixed before it becomes worse. If you ignore the issue, it can do more wear and tear to your vehicle. This will cause extra time, money, and stress in the future. Between visits, there are something things you can check on the vehicle yourself.   One of the most important things that you can do is to check the tires on your vehicle. The tires should be proper inflated so that they can rotate properly as you drive. If they are under inflated, there is a great chance that the tire can blow out as you drive. If the tires are over inflated, they can pick up sharp objects that are on the road. Also make sure that the tread is inspected so the tires are rotating evenly. If you notice that the tires have uneven tread wear, make sure to bring the vehicle in as soon as possible so we can inspect it for you. We may recommend tire rotation or alignment so the tires are the most efficient as possible.   Besides checking the tires, also remember to top of the fluids in the vehicle. Having the correct amount of each fluid in the reservoir is important. The oil should be inspected as well. Having the proper amount of clean oil is important because it will help to lubricate the moving parts of the engine as you drive. If you are not sure how often the oil should be changed, bring the vehicle in and we can recommend a schedule for you. Oil Changes and Oil Filters should not be Overlooked

Keeping the vehicle up to date on regular oil changes is important. This is because it can reduce the amount of friction because it places a layer of oil between all the hundreds of moving parts that are in your vehicle’s engine. The oil also helps to keep the parts of the engine at the proper operating temperature as it circulates through the system. Without the oil, the engine’s moving parts create so much heat that they can eventually melt together. This is an issue because it can cause your engine to lock up. The filter will collect dirt and debris as part of everyday use, so it is a good idea that you replace the oil filter with every oil change you have done on your vehicle. If you are not sure if the oil filter should be changed, make sure to bring the vehicle in and we can inspect it for you. This can help keep the vehicle and engine operating in top performance levels.   You can help keep the internal parts of the engine lubricated and operating at the correct temperature by having the oil changed. Oil in good condition can also help the moving parts from grinding against one another, which also helps to prevent damage to them. Without regular oil changes, dirt and sludge can build up in the engine and cause several issues. The old dirty oil will not be able to help lubricate the moving parts of your vehicle like new, fresh, clean oil can. The dirty oil can lead to serious damage to parts of your vehicle and engine.   There can be some signs that the oil needs to be changed from your vehicle. If the oil becomes a darky, murky-color, or even black in color, the oil should be changed as soon as possible. It is normal to burn small amounts of oil through everyday use, but if the level of oil becomes extremely low, an oil change may be needed. Make sure to follow the manufactures recommended service schedules when it comes to oil changes. This can help keep your vehicle running like new.
