When you drive, there are several things you will need to inspect. By inspecting the vehicle on a regular basis, you can ensure that the parts and components are working at top performance levels and also efficiently. When you bring your vehicle in, we will check for any issues or signs of a problem. If anything occurs we can advise you on the ways that it can be repaired or replaced. By having an issue fixed at the first sign, you can help prevent further damage from happening, as well as a costly repair bill in the future. This way you can have a safe and reliable vehicle when you drive it with your family or passengers. The Windshield should be Clean and Clear One of the most important parts of the vehicle is the windshield. This is because a clean windshield will allow you to see properly to the road you are driving on. If there are any cracks or divots on the windshield, it could impair the visibility of the road ahead. If the crack starts to extend across the windshield, bring the vehicle in so we can repair it for you. A crack can disguise an object or animal ahead on the road. The windshield should be clear of any road grime or bugs that are on it. Replace the Windshield Wipers when Needed The windshield wipers should also be inspected. They are an important part because they will clean the windshield, as it gets dirty with dust, dirt, or other debris. As the windshield wipers start to show signs of wear and tear, there will be visible signs. There will be streaks or smear marks as they operate. You may also notice that the windshield wipers chatter or make noise as they operate. If you see or hear any unusual things from the windshield wipers, make sure to bring the vehicle in and we can inspect it for you. If the windshield wipers need to be replaced, we can recommend the right ones for you. If you cannot remember the last time you changed the windshield wipers, now would be a great time to do so. It is important to change the windshield wipers at the beginning of fall and spring. Through the summer the windshield wipers begin to wear down with operation. Check the Lights on your Vehicle Along with checking the windshield and wipers on your vehicle, make sure that you inspect the headlights, taillights, and blinkers. The lights are important because they will illuminate the road in front of you. The lights also help others to see where you are. This way you can avoid an accident because others will know where you are and which direction you would be turning. If the lights are not aligned properly or dim, it can impair the visibility when you drive. Bring the vehicle in and we can check the placement of the lights and how well the illuminate the road when you drive. With proper visibility when you drive, you can increase the safety and comfort of your vehicle.
How often do you check the oil level in your car? Many people know less and less about their cars even though they rely on them more and more and they cost a lot of money. Instead of figuring out how something works or being able to check it on their own, it is easier to just drive somewhere and have someone else worry over it. That is why the stickers were created to put a place on the line where it says at exactly what mile marker they should be taken in for an oil change. If you are not sure how often to bring your vehicle in for an oil change, make sure to contact us. We can advise you on the correct schedule so your vehicle still operates efficiently. How Often to Have the Oil Changes Most instructions you see say to change the oil in your car every 3,000 miles. However, it also says three months. The truth is that oil changes should be based on numbers, but also the conditions where you are driving. Do your miles usually occur on the freeway, with little stop and go action the whole time? Do your miles include a lot of stopping and braking, going short spaces during a commute? Longer drives on the highway with little stops are easier on an engine and can allow the car to go slightly longer than the 3,000 miles it says to. As long as the dipstick in the oil tank says the engine is at a good level, you could probably wait until 4,000 miles for a change. When you drive in city traffic where you sit, move a little, sit some more and wait, you oil is still moving through the engine, even as you idle. Every time the oil moves through the engine, it picks up dirt and other contaminants that make it black. So when you do a lot of city driving and wait, your oil might need to be changed sooner than the 3,000 miles. You might want to consider after 2,000 miles or when it shows to be black on the dipstick. Since you have heavy stop and go action, you will also want to check and make sure the oil levels remain full to keep the engine pumping along well. The Type of Oil to Use in Your Vehicle The type of oil put in your engine might also determine how long it lasts between changes. Some synthetic brands are now coming out that are safe for engines to go close to 5,000 miles between changes. The oil is more expensive up front, but then the product information says the price difference is made up for because the car can go longer between changes. The oil is thicker and able to work well in the pistons even if it gets dirty sooner. If you are unsure when the oil should be changed, or what type of oil should be used, make sure to contact us so we can advise you on the correct one.
